Hey Brent, when you were driving near New Ulm, what road were you on? We drive through there when we travel home to Dave and Sharon’s and I know the geodesic dome and the stone lions. It’s so familiar that I don’t even know what road we are on. I’m usually reading or listening to a book on my Libby app while Don drives and tries to distract me from my reading so he can recite interesting facts he can’t wait to share😉 it’s quite a trip but I love the stark beauty of the landscape of the trip, especially near the river valley by Granite Falls and the upper reservation. Only a true western Minnesotan would understand, right? I think it’s a great way to celebrate, by honoring your kin.
It's Jwy 29...sort of the short cut to Redwood Falls. As far as reciting interesting facts...it's not easy being a guy - not everyone appreciates what we bring to the table.
Happy Anniversary. However you celebrate your anniversary is up to you and your spouse; who am I to judge? I'm glad the of you could find a meaningful way of marking the day. I'm confident your family member appreciated the visit. I know I appreciated your thoughtful musings about it. Thanks.
I'm also a Road Warrior. And having been on the board of Southern Minnesota Tourism for years, I have traveled those 39 southern counties many times. I can even answer the question, "Where the heck is Otisco?" And I'll recreate the trip you just took on Sunday April 21st when I get up early, following the Health Care Foundations' Gala, and head to Wells, MN (think Albert Lea) for a First Communion celebration and then head home via Fairmont to visit brother Lee.

Lisa,

Ok yeah I know that road—from New Ulm, eventually Redwood with small towns in between. Thanks for your insightful writing—we appreciate it so much.
I liked the way you spent your anniversary. Love your "observations !"
