Problem is the oppressed of the past are being told to let go the past when they're still being oppressed to this day. When slavery was abolished many slave owners were compensated for lost revenue but the enslaved were just set free to fend for themselves. White people have been able to build generational wealth. Blacks and indigenous were not. And to this day native treaties are violated if there are resources on their lathat white people want. It happened in the Black Hills when Custer found gold and it happened when they kicked out the Lakota onto the badlands and then found uranium there. The abuse is on going. Malcolm X said it best and I'm paraphrasing: Don't tell me you pulled out the knife embedded in my back by a few inches and tell me that's progress.

Of all the dozens if not hundred or so columns I've read, and of the books, this is perhaps the most poignant and incredible I've read. And, to have been in company with someone so ignorant of history, or even of the past, must have been truly traumatic. Thank you, Brent. Thank you.
