Only 3 months behind? In any retired person’s thinking, that is right on time! If this kind of thinking gets in the hands of the wrong people, it could get old, retired folks in real problems. Our children will sign us up for time management classes , goal setting, and other ideas we heard in our years of working. I suggest you find a comfortable chair, recline, close your eyes, and visualize your writers cottage, before you rush into such a large project. Besides, autumn is a much cooler time to tackle such a huge project!

We'll see - I'm at the limits of both my body and my skills.

Clearly you and I have a different definition and understanding of "limits" :). You're going to accomplish a great building for writing, thinking, and relaxing in. It already comes with an amazing Lake Olson view!

I think such a writer’s cottage sounds wonderful, Brent. Sounds so je ne sait quoi, no?

You must post a picture of the finished writer's cottage!

I've always wanted a little house to write in! But that said I'm pretty happy with my den/studio. It's pretty, and photogenic for all the virtual presentations I do and there's a beautiful birch tree in the backyard.

Writing that column was a little like jumping into the deep end of the pool. I'm clearly committed now.

I love what your farm is, property-wise, and what it represents, at least what I’ve gathered from your stories. A place with deep roots that require tending, and enough space to be creative and evolve. Sounds like Utopia to me. 💜

It's not Utopia, but we like it. We more or less invented our life here - it wouldn't be for everyone, but it works for us.
